Behavioral Neuroendocrinology Research

Dr. Grissom's research focuses on understanding sex differences in stress and anxiety across the lifespan, and how these differences impact learning and memory. Elevations in stress hormones at different critical developmental timepoints impact learning and memory in males and females differently.

Social and Biological Influences on Primate Behavior and Reproduction

Dr. Evan Zucker, Professor of Psychological Sciences, studies the social and biological influences on the behavior and reproductive outcomes of nonhuman primates, as well as studying naturally-occurring patterns of human behavior (human ethology) and other aspects of social phenomena.

Making a better world: A project examining motivation to improve collective well-being

Dr. Chuck Nichols' project seeks to better understand the correlates, causes, and effects of wanting and working toward collective betterment. Caring about and helping close others and even complete strangers can provide strong psychological benefits for the helper as well as the helped.

Oanh Nguyen Presents Research and Wins Best Presentation

Oanh Nguyen (Senior, Psychological Sciences Major) presented a poster at the Southeastern Psychological Association’s conference in Jacksonville for research done in collaboration with Dr. Erin Dupuis on the topic of “The Relation Between Attitudes toward Sexual Street Harassment Against Women and Ambivalent Sexism”. Oanh also won the best undergraduate poster presentation award for this research at the March, 2019 Louisiana Academy of Sciences!

Gabriella Pucci

Gabriella Pucci ('19), a Psychological Sciences Pre-Med major, was awarded a $1500 summer research grant by Psi Chi, the International Honors Society in Psychology. Gabby received the award for the proposal, “The Effect of Punishment Sensitivity and Anxiety on the Development of Eating Disorder Behaviors in College Students."

Dr. Yurgil's Research Posted on Department of Defense Website

Dr. Kate Yurgil and her research collaborators were recently featured on the Department of Defense Blast Injury Research Program website. Their research examined the relation between tinnitus, PTSD, and Traumatic Brain Injury in a group of United States Marine Veterans.

Erin Dupuis

Dr. Erin Dupuis, Associate Professor in Psychological Sciences, published a chapter in the recently released Sage Encyclopedia of Psychology and Gender. The chapter titled, "Acquaintance Rape" covers definition issues, prevalence, and factors related to victims and perpetrators.
